I Give up!

My efforts to keep up with the PROLIFIC output of Ms Brownpants have come a cropper. I am really good at starting multiple projects, but still having difficulty completing. ALTHOUGH I am channeling the completer/finisher goddess, so I have made significant progress.

I have recently cast on these two projects:
  1. The Print o' the Wave Stole by Eunny Jang . I am using Lorna's Laces in Seaside (how fitting). It is a beautiful design, but may take a little while to complete (I have to pick up stitches, hundreds of the buggers!)
  2. Bolero, from Jo Sharp Knit Issue 2. I am using 8 ply cotton from Bendigo Wool mills (not impressed with this yarn). Feels like it will take FOREVER.

And then there are all my UFO's to consider (updated list to be posted soon), and then there are my wish list projects (another huge list) and the Christmas presents (Biggest list yet!!).

I am also having the debate (in my head) about when it is appropriate to:

  1. knit in front of new partner
  2. knit something for new partner
  3. demand new partner contribute to my craft budget (ok, that may take years!).

I have been seeing someone for 3 months, have told him I knit but have yet to do items 1 to 3 in his presence. Any thoughts, suggestions would be most appreciated!

And don t even get me started on knitting socks! I so want to do that, maybe next month.............................

My advice: drink more beer. Solves all life's problems, and is my knitting secret!

I can't even remember when I started knitting in front of my BF!
Maybe 6-12months?
Anyway, we've been together for 5 years (living tog for 3) and he only has 2 pairs of socks and 2 scarves (one of which I wear)!

Re: circular needles for my cami - I use the 60cm length (great for knitting in the round and straight knitting).

You know what? Someone wouldn't get as far as BEING a new partner if they didn't see me knitting early on and be ok with it. I'd probably knit in front of them before I got naked with them, just to make sure they were cool with it! :-)

Knitting FOR a new partner would be a different matter. You'd totally have to make sure they were worth all that time and effort and that they'd actually appreciate it.

How to tell? If you knit in front of them and they show NO interest at all, then it's probably not worth knitting for them.

I say you should only knit in front of a partner whenever you're ready. Never knit anything for a new partner (especially men) unless they first show interest or express a need for something that could actually be knitted. Men are practical beasts. I've only ever knitted a beanie for Robert and we've been married for 9 years!
